How long is a massage?
About as long as a piece of string....
Each session is dependant on what is wrong with your horse. A very chronic and reactive horse can take over 2 hours to help fully. A maintenance massage could take an hour, or a regular 'part of a course' therapy session of a localised manner, may take just half an hour.
Initial sessionIf you are a new client, my usual process is to book you in for an assessment. It could take over two hours so leave plenty of time, and make sure I am not disturbing your horse's meal time, or usual nap time :)
Sometimes follow up Massage therapy is required, but this will be discussed when we meet, and I have seen your horse. Pre purchase advice I am happy for you to send me videos of a horse you are looking to buy. I see lameness down to a 2/10 and can offer a very balanced view of suitability for purchase or to simply tell you the plain truth. Advice is free but I am also happy to come along and have a look with you. I am polite and private. Convalescent/Recovery Massage therapy is amazing for horses on total box rest. Of course, this is always with veterinary instruction and approval, but an immobile horse is not a very happy horse. Massage can exercise muscles a horse physically can not. I can stretch and relax, and keep muscle tone on a horse out of action due to injury. It is also prudent to massage a horse in recovery from an injury to maximise recovery time. |
