I am a fully qualified Equine Sport's physio, specialising in Myofascial release and deep tissue work. I achieved distinctions in all THREE levels of my training, and I am a Master bodyworker attaining near perfection in all modules.
My qualification is ESMT Dip ICAT. (certificate on about page) Ten years ago I qualified with the UK based Institute of Complimentary Animal Therapies. This course involves working with a Master saddler, learning about saddle fit and type, and also about the Psychology of the horse (behaviour and herd structure). I also spent time with an equine dentist and farrier, learning to deal with emergency situations. I have also studied equine nutrition and hold Thunderbrook feeds, and grainless feeding, in high regard. Equine Ulcers are a hot topic, and more than a few of the horses I have seen to, have had them. I have been helping horses Internationally since 2006, but I've been riding for 30 years and have owned and trained Spanish stallions until leaving the UK some seven years ago. I now have the pleasure of being owned by two amazing black PRE colts, Habanero NVW and Luz NVW. Follow them here. I've assisted racehorses AND animal cruelty cases in Cyprus for over four years prior to moving to Portugal, and trust me, when I say cruelty, I mean things from your nightmares. Being in the Algarve, with such an abundance of Veterinary care and expertise, is a breath of fresh air. There are many forms of Equine physiotherapy and body work, but I use the oldest Swedish technique of Myofascial release (deep and shallow muscular tissue work). I incorporate some reiki and Shiatsu along with remedial stretches which I can teach you to help maintain your horse's balance and flexibility. An initial evaluation can take 2 hrs, or more, and I check all of your tack to form a balanced opinion of what is going on. Follow up massages may take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and forty five minutes. Each horse is an individual, with individual needs, so I tailor make each session accordingly. Prices vary from 35 euros to 50 euros depending on the issue (I may need to spend 2 or more hours initially on your horse). You will need to be present as some horses will need to be held and reassured by their owner that what I am doing is helping them. Thank you for visiting my website, and I hope to see you and your horse very soon |
